The lug wrench is probably one of the most important tools to carry at all times. In the case of the Land Rover Discovery, as well as the Land Rover Defender and Land Rover Series the lug wrench required is 1-1/16. I have bent two factory lug wrenches trying to get the lug nuts off, which at a cost of $18-$25 per unit was getting expensive.
I have finally found the correct solutions for this problem, in the form of a 1/2 inch breaker bar and socket. I went with the Kobalt 1/2-in Breaker Bar and the Kobalt 1/2-in Drive 1-1/16-in Deep 6-Point Standard (SAE) Impact Socket, both from Lowe’s. The total cost for both was $32. This setup has worked great and removed the lug nuts at least 1o0 times thus far with no signs of bending or breaking. I painted the lower section of the handle some black spray paint, so I would not get the one mixed up with my shop breaker bar.
